When Ragna and I first discussed doing this crossover series, one of the issues that we both knew we would have to deal with sooner rather than later was how ATS Season Four ended. I volunteered to tackle that part, especially since she started the ball rolling with "Geek Love." So this is how Season Four ended, keep in mind that some of the events of Season Four didn't happen, and of course somethings still happened. Feel free to give me your thoughts and your opinions on this piece. Now onto the fic....

For a brief period of time, Angel had been able to experience true happiness without the risk of losing his soul. Even his demon had been content and then Wesley had been contaminated with Jasmine’s blood. He didn’t blame him for what he had done but it had still upset him. He had almost gone to Jasmine and begged her to make him blind to her true form. However, the knowledge that she had harmed Cordelia, manipulated his son, and ate people had held him back. So he and Wesley had contaminated Gunn and Lorne with Cordelia’s blood and he had manipulated his son to get him to fight against Jasmine.
In the end things had worked out differently than he had planned. Wolfram and Hart had sent them Lilah to help bring down Jasmine. To prove their sincerity, they had also sent a powerful amulet to help shut down the First in Sunnydale. Angel had sent Connor with the amulet to Buffy, as he couldn’t see her again. He left Gunn and Lorne to protect Cordelia from either Jasmine or any of her minions. And he took Lilah and Wesley to help him search for a mystical sword that Lilah swore would help him to defeat Jasmine and end her reign. It never occurred to Angel to ask how Lilah or Wolfram and Hart had managed to keep their free will, but it had occurred to Wesley. And Wesley made it a point to ask Lilah and then to force her to answer the question. At first she had tried to laugh it off, until she saw the grim determination written on both Angel’s and Wesley’s faces. She told that the Wolfram and Hart had powerful psychics who had predicted Jasmine’s birth, which had allowed them to take precautions against her. The next thing that Angel knew was that Wesley was pulling him off Lilah. Although he knew of Wesley’s relationship with the lawyer, he knew that Wesley was only saving her life because they needed her to find the sword. The more Angel thought about it, the more he was convinced that he didn’t want to know what the precautions Wolfram and Hart had taken.
The three of them found the sword and returned to L.A. Angel took on Jasmine by himself. She had pleaded for her life by telling him how she had achieved so much good. Angel had told him that the cost of the good she had done wasn’t worth it, then he had killed her. When he had returned to the Hyperion, it had been more than he could handle. Lilah had headed back to Wolfram and Hart, leaving Wesley to tell him the bad news. Buffy had managed to defeat the First but she had died in the process. Angel was relieved to hear that his son had survived but it felt as if something in him had died when he had heard about Buffy’s death. He walked out on Wesley before the former Watcher could tell him anything else. He decided to find another monastery to lose himself in, somewhere that he didn’t have to the Champion of the Powers that Be, or where he was surrounded by death all the time.

By running away from his responsibilities, Angel wouldn’t find out about Wolfram and Hart’s offer to Angel Investigations, or Cordelia’s first vision when she awoke from her coma, or the dire consequences of Buffy’s death until much later.

Date: 2005-01-30 04:09 am (UTC)Ask Ragna about the piece about why Fred left.
And the two of us are working on getting a numbered list for the fics.
Don't worry, it's getting confusing to me too :)
